Why forcing Ukraine into a peace deal won’t work

More and more voices in the US and Europe say it’s time to push Ukraine into a peace deal. With the diesel deal and Trump’s talk of easing sanctions on Russia, the pressure is growing. But the argument rests on the assumption that there is a deal on the table that Ukraine could take if it wanted to — and there isn't. In this video, I describe what the two sides actually say their conditions for peace are, and why it's so hard to see any peace deal coming out of the negotiations. I find it hard to imagine any NATO-member would agree to this, even a Trump-led US.

Excellent video. TL:DW - Ukraine wants independence and will give up some territory in exchange for security guarantees. Putin wants military control over half of Europe. There's no negotiations possible in these circumstances, because Putin won't even talk to Ukraine. All of Putin's "negotiations" have been confidential meetings with Trump's lackeys about dividing up Europe between them.

Peace comes when russia falls and is partitioned so it can't amass a large military ever again. Ukraine deserves territory for all the destroyed and polluted land in the occupied areas and russia needs to lose access to the Black and Ural seas. Finland too deserves territory back and Scandanavia needs security. China could deserve it's territory back but only if it actively helps topple putin in the name of world peace. Is anyone even talking about plans for russia post-putin?
